Chemical spill kits are ideal for a rapid response to chemical spills or leaks. Spill kits are designed for single use application.

Most laboratory workers should be able to clean up small chemical spills. Workers must be knowledgeable about the chemical and physical properties of hazardous materials before attempting to clean up a chemical spill. Spill kits should be acquired before working with highly toxic chemicals or large volumes of flammable or corrosive chemicals. The spill kit should contain PPE, absorbent materials, a scoop or brush, and a waste disposal container. In the event a chemical is released into the environment, contain the chemical spill as much as possible, alert co-workers, and contact EH&S for assistance. If a chemical spill is too large to safety clean up, isolate the area, alert coworkers, and contact EH&S for assistance. Below are listed the contents for typical laboratory spill kits.
